Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #19
I was able to participate in Keesh’s Sketch Challenge this week (Yay!!) when I was after some inspiration for a couple of cards I needed to make! One of them was a card for a friend’s wedding and when I saw Keesh’s Sketch, I thought it would work perfectly! I actually was so excited about this sketch and its possibilities that I made 2 cards for the Challenge!!

This was the first card I made and I wanted something elegant so I went for my Bella Bleu DSP and used this soft colour combo of Kraft, Not Quite Navy & Very Vanilla (with some Baja Breeze) for my card. I used the heart stamp from the Always set and added some Kraft Taffeta ribbon and some Half Pearls.

For my second card, I went for something a little bit more fun and girly while still being a wedding card!

I featured the lovely Sweet Always DSP and the colour combo of Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip & Pink Pirouette. I used the Always heart again and coloured it with markers, and then put it together with some White Grosgrain Ribbon and Clear Rhinestones.

Sorry I havent been back with the Sale-a-Bration cards I promised! They are almost ready to go, but I have been so crazy busy that I haven’t had a chance to get them finished and ready for the blog! I will be back here soon to show them to you… I promise!

Just Add Ink Challenge #6
This week’s Just Add Ink Challenge #6 was a great sketch challenge that was perfect for another birthday card for school!

I really like this sketch (I may even have another go at it!), but wanted to do something a little different with the 3 squares – rather than using 3 smaller images, I wanted to use one large image that was cut into 3 sections. I raided my stamp stash to find something that would work and came across my Pick a Petal stamp set (I was just saying to a friend that I haven’t used it in a while!). So I stamped a large half flower and used it as my main image on my large card (A5 size).

I used Elegant Eggplant, Pale Plum & Kiwi Kiss for my colour combo – I really love purples, so I decided to break them out for this card! Plus it keeps it nice and fresh and fun! I cut the flower into 3 pieces and mounted them on Pale Plum card. I also used some Kiwi Kiss Patterns DSP and tied a bow with my Elegant Eggplant ribbon. I added the sentiment from Whimsical Words (a gorgeous FREE Sale-a-Bration set) and finished with some scattered bling!!

Check out the other fantastic entries for the Challenge here and remember to leave some comment love for those involved!

Thinking of you
I had the unfortunate need of a sympathy card recently, for one of the lovely ladies from work whose brother passed away. It’s always hard to make a card that is thoughtful and considerate and conveys everything you want to say.
I didn’t have any sympathy sentiments, but decided to use the Upsy Daisy flowers with the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the same set. I also found inspiration for the card in the Mojo Monday Sketch, although I did flip the switch around so it was on its side.

The daisies were stamped with Pacific Point ink and then again with Baja Breeze ink to create a shadow and a 3D effect. I tried to create a soft feel with the colour combo of Kraft, Baja Breeze, Whisper White & Pacific Point (it actually looks rather bright in this picture, though it was softer in real life). A trim with the Eyelet Border Punch, some Kraft Taffeta ribbon and some Half Pearls also help to soften the card.

It’s hard to know what to say or do when friends go through hard times, but I hope that a handmade card, made with love can help to let her know how much we all care.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #55
Here’s another challenge card – my third for this week!!
This time I have used Karen Giron’s Sweet Sunday Sketch to create a birthday card featuring the Fifth Avenue Floral stamps and co-ordinating Urban Oasis DSP.

This card took me SO long to make!! Not because it was really difficult, but just because I could not get the idea in my head to form into the card I wanted it to be! I was determined to use the Fifth Ave Floral stamp set and Urban Oasis DSP, but I couldn’t get it to look right! I tried every different piece of paper from the Urban Oasis DSP, watercoloured a selection of different flowers, cut multiple colours and sizes of circles with my Circle Scissors Plus and tried to put together every combination possible and I couldn’t get it to work!! I think my mojo was definitely frustrated!! I finally left it a few times and came back after awhile, and then just decided to pick a combo and stick with it!! I’m think I’m happy with how it turned out in the end, but it definitely took me a very long time to get to that point!
My FREE Sale-a-Bration stamps just arrived, so I also was able to break open my new stamps and use one of the beautiful sentiments from Whimsical Words (love this set!).

If you want to find out more about how you can get FREE stamp sets until the end of March, check out more details about Sale-aBration here! To order your products or book a workshop (another way to get a FREE stamp set!), then contact me here!

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #18
My second sketch challenge creation in one day! I’m on a roll! (Check out my other sketch challenge card for Just Add Ink here)
This card was created using Keesh’s Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #18:

This is a nice big card (using a full A4 sheet) and I used the Urban Garden DSP and took the colours from the DSP as my colour combo – Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Basic Grey & Kiwi Kiss. I added some butterflies from the Butterfly Prints, punched out with my trusty Butterfly Punch from the Summer Mini (such an amazing punch – love it!!). I used the lovely Kiwi Kiss/ Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon and some buttons from Bouquet Designer Buttons with some colour co-ordinated faux thread (you just use a sliver of cardstock – so easy and it just gives it the finishing touch!).
I love the words on these butterflies – love, happiness, delight, harmony, bliss, friendship, gladness, laugh etc. They make you smile just looking at them!
This card is going to the one of the girls at work who is having her birthday at the end of the week, so I’ll have to get it signed over the next few days so it is ready for her on the day! I have a few more birthdays coming up at work, so I will have to get busy and come back soon to show you some more big birthday cards!

Friendship Flowers – Just Add Ink Challenge #3
I have been enjoying following the challenges that Amanda & Danielle from Just Add Ink have been setting, and have enjoyed seeing all the entries. However, I have been so busy with school starting that I have not had a chance to create anything before the deadline for the last 2 challenges. I finally got a chance to sit down for a spot of stamping this weekend, so I decided to get a little challenge-happy!
The card below is for the sketch challenge on the Just Add Ink site. You can check it out here, and also check out the amazing creations from the Design Team and the other entries in the challenge.

I used my For Everything stamp set from the Summer Mini as well as my Circle Scissors Plus to create the main image. I stamped the stems in Certainly Celery and used my Regal Rose & So Saffron marker to colour the flowers and then popped them up. I added some Certainly Celery ribbon and So Saffron Patterns DSP to the bottom of the card and Scallop Border punched the Certainly Celery card along the bottom. The sentiment was stamped twice in Regal Rose – once on So Saffron and once in Whisper White and then cut them both out and popped up the word “friendship” on dimensionals.

This card is for a very special friend of mine who celebrated her birthday during the week so I dropped the card and a little prezzie off to her this morning!
I had a play with some more challenges yesterday so I will be back to share some of my other creations later today!
