Watercolour with a difference!

I tried a new watercolouring technique recently that has been around on a number of blogs. It involves stamping and embossing a flower and then using the Aquapainter with a lot of ink to “drop” ink into the sections created by the embossed “barrier”. I don’t know if that makes any sense! Here’s a great tutorial by Patty to check out if you’re wondering what on earth I’m talking about!!

I didn’t have any Shimmery paper as she recommends, so tried it with Watercolour paper which worked quite well. It did soak up the water a lot though, so you had to push the colour around with the Aquapainter a little more than Patty does in the tutorial.

Birthday Rose

It looks really great in real life and is a great technique to try or demonstrate for a bit of a wow factor! The Fifth Avenue Floral rose is perfect for this technique and you get great colours in your roses that look very realistic.
