‘A Klass Act’ Team Day – January

WOW! What a day!

We had an amazingly fun day yesterday, catching up with the ‘A Klass Act’ Team and stamping together! The afternoon ran a bit differently this time, and we all (well, the 13 of us that were there) took part in a Summer Mini Shoebox Swap. This involved designing a card for the other girls to make using products from the Summer Mini and bundling up all the card, stamps and accessories needed for the card into a shoebox. This meant that we all made 12 cards in 2. 5 hours! The last 10 mins were very funny as everybody raced around trying to finish the last of their stamping and pack everything away in time! It was a really fun afternoon, but very busy!!

Here is the card that I designed for the other girls to make, using the Something Sweet set:

Here are the cards that I was able to make that were designed by the other girls in the team:

This pretty Butterfly Prints card (above) using the So Swirly wheel was designed by Kerry High.

This cute Valentine’s Day card using the A Happy Heart set was designed by Natalie Zapantis.

This beautiful Butterfly Prints card also uses the En Francais background stamp and was designed by Jaz Hicks – you can check out her blog here.

A Bold Brights card using the Hello Again stamps and Retro Remix wheel by Chantell Randall – her blog is here.

A funky Hello Again card with the Retro Remix wheel by Narelle Newcombe.

A very elegant (and vintagey style) Framed with Love card by Janny Klass – see her blog here.

This pretty garden of flowers using the Hello Again stamps was created by Louise Layton – see her blog here.

This super cute and lovely card using the For Everything set was created by our fearless leader, Sarah Klass – check her out here.

This bright butterfly card using Garden Whimsy was created by Sue Goodwin.

This Wagon Full of Fun card with the very cute duck was created by Jenny Robinson.

This Razzle Dazzle card used a really cool Blackboard Technique where we stamped in Whisper White Craft ink and then coloured over with Watercolour Pencils! Designed by Tracey Wilson.

There was also a gorgeous butterfly card designed by my friend, Jan Radu, which I didn’t get to make (as we were so tight on time!) and I knew I could make it with her later. So I will have to show that card to you at a later date! You can check out her blog here.

We had a great day catching up together! I always love our Team Days and enjoy all the stamping, chatting and inspiration! Look forward to the next one!

Sweetest Day + M&Ms

I’m back with the kid’s Sweet Treat card I promised! This one was a lot of fun to make – lots of Bold Brights (my favourite colours… not!). But it is perfect for a fun kid’s card, or even for a grown up who is a kid at heart!

My colour scheme was matched to the M&Ms and is made up of Real Red, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore and Pacific Point! Very bright!

I started with a square card of Green Galore which measures just under 11cm square (it was one A4 piece of card, folded in half and then cut to be square). For the main panel, I stamped my gumball machine in Pacific Point and added it to layers of Real Red, Yoyo Yellow and Only Orange. I stamped the sentiment in the different inks and then cut out the different words to make a multi-coloured sentiment. I added a couple of buttons (that orange button is officially Pumpkin Pie, but it was a close enough orange for this card!) which I threaded with different colour card strips and then popped my M&Ms into a Sweet Treat Cup.

Of course, I had to make a pull tab again to keep the card in one piece while the recipient goes for the chocolate, so I added a tab at the top with some Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon that you can pull up like so:

… until your chocolates are released through the hole on the inside.

I also did something a little different with this card and made a background for the Sweet Treat Cup so that when the chocolates were eaten, the card still looked nice. This is what it looks like when the cup is empty:

I just punched a 1 3/4″ Circle in Whisper White, stamped it with the different round gumball stamp in the matching colours, and then stuck it to the tab so that it can be seen when the tab is pushed back in!

Well, I think the Sweet Treat Cups might get a rest for a few days now! I was back to school today, so might have to take the stamping easy for a few days while I get everything ready for the kids to come back on Monday.

Although I still have to prep my Shoebox Swap for our ‘A Klass Act’ Team Day on Saturday, so I will definitely be back after that to share some ideas from our get together. Looking forward to it!

Stampin Up! Haiti Disaster Relief

On 12 January, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope.

Stampin Up! are supporting the people in Haiti by donating money and care kits to help wherever possible. One way that you can help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this earthquake is by purchasing the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set, which can be seen above.

From now until 28 February 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set you buy will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Reflief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

The I {Heart} Hearts stamp set coordinates with Stampin’ Up!’s Full Heart Punch and Heart to Heart Punch.

Sweet Sunshine

Just for something a bit different… I have ANOTHER Sweet Treat card today! And still one more to come! But it really is so much fun making little cards with lollies in them and I think they make such a “sweet” and cute gift for someone special!!

Today’s card is a “Just Because” to let someone know how special they are… I’m not sure who this card will go to yet, but I have a few wonderful people in mind, that are very special to me, that I would love to send a treat card.

This card features Skittles (one of my fave lollies!) and I chose the purple, green and red lollies and then matched them to my SU colours of Elegant Eggplant, Green Galore and Real Red. The purple skittles look more brown in this photo, but trust me, they are purple in real life!

I decided to go for a flower design and so I stamped the petal image, from the Something Sweet stamp set, repeatedly around the circle (after a couple misjudged attempts, I got out my Stamp-a-ma-jig and this made the job much easier – now you can learn from my mistake and get it out from the beginning!!). I cut out around the whole flower image and also stamped a couple of green leaves, using VersaMark on Green Galore card, and popped them up. I used my Circle Scissors Plus to create a nice Whisper White circle background and then also added some details with a scalloped Real Red piece and some Elegant Eggplant ribbon.

Here’s a look at the inside with a slide tab to release the lollies:

Pull it out and you get a treat!

I have one more Sweet Treat card to share with you that is a fun kid’s birthday card, so stay tuned for that!

Sweetest Day

I have another “sweet” card to share you with today, using the Something Sweet stamp set and Sweet Treat Cups! (If you missed my Baby card yesterday using the Sweet Treat Cups, check it out here.)

This card is one that could be used for an adult as a birthday card or even just as a card to say – Have a Great Day! I used TicTacs as my lolly of choice for this card and used some Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Whisper White.

Those little jellybeans are so cute! I made another little slide tab to open the Sweet Treat Cup and release the lollies. The piece of Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (love it – from the Summer Mini!) is attached to a tab that you pull up. You can see it as I started to pull it below:

Then you pull it up further and it opens the “trapdoor” and all the lollies are released!

This is what it looks like on the inside of the card:

I have more lollies left (no, I haven’t eaten them all yet!!!) and more ideas for Sweet Treat cards, so I will be back with another one very soon!

If you want to check out this super cute stamp set and Sweet Treat Cups, or the rest of the amazing things in the Summer Mini, check it out here!

Sweet Little Baby

I have been enjoying having a bit of a play with my Sweet Treat Cups and Something Sweet stamp set from the current Summer Mini (-> check out the Summer Mini here!)

I bought a variety of different lollies and treats to fill my Sweet Treat Cups with, and then let the colours of the lollies determine my colour scheme for my card!

My first selection of lollies were some Fruit Mentos that were a range of pastel colours. I pulled out my Stampin Up! colours and matched them up to be Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink and Apricot Appeal. I thought these colours would be perfect for a baby card, and this also gave me an opportunity to use the rattle stamp from my Something Sweet set!

I used a base of Barely Banana card and stamped the rattle handle in Pretty in Pink and cut it out. I added a strip of Pretty in Pink to the bottom and punched it with the Scallop Border Punch. I tied some Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon around the bottom and added some faux stitching in White Gel Pen. I needed a little something in the bottom corner so I stamped some little hearts from the Something Sweet set in VersaMark on Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink and Apricot Appeal card and cut them out as well.

I wanted to make an access so that the lollies could be eaten without breaking the whole card, so I made a slide tab on the inside, so that when it is pulled, the lollies can be found and then it could also be filled up again!

Here’s the inside of the card:

And here is what happens when you pull the tab:

Yay! Lollies are released! I love these Sweet Treat Cups because they are very easy to use and are so much fun! They would be great for special cards for little people, as well as not so little people!

I have another Sweet Treat card to share with you tomorrow, using some different stamps from the set, so pop back for that!
